
Munster Championships 2023
This year’s ITA Munster Open was held at the SETU Arena, Waterford, Ireland.
With 980 competitors from Ireland, England and Scotland over 2 days, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February.
Saturday had 7 rings running all day for Black Belts and Cadets/ Seniors. Patterns, Sparring, Special Technique and Power were the events.
On Saturday at the Munster Open, Master Barry with the Inclusion committee, held an inclusive patterns
competition It was a fantastic morning with some of our members competing with others from around the country! A big well done to all involved 😊 we are looking forward to building on this and getting more involved for the next one.
Taekwon-Do for All
With Miss Alison Grealy taking Best Senior Female and Mr Finn Martin taking Best Senior Male.
Sunday saw 9 rings operating all day, all with full electronic scoring and Display Monitors for scoring. Undef 10’s were on from 10am to 1pm and 11-13 years from 1pm till the last bouts at 5ish.
Best overall school was Rivervalley/Ashbourne, Master Stephen Cooley with 2nd Overall Quin Tkd , Master Stephen Ryan and 3rd place was Cork ITA, Master Mark Buckley, over 40 clubs attended.
There was over 100 Umpires and our Umpire Tutors on hand to help with observations and helpful insights to keep the day running smooth.
As always it was a World Class event ran by the ITA Tournament and Umpire Committee of Masters Mark Buckley, Stephen Ryan, Mr Stephen and Carl Smullen. Our Leinster Open will happen on March 11th/12th in Gormanstown Co Meath.
